The Egypt of popular imagination – towering obelisks, arcane symbols and dank tombs – was founded on the Enlightenment fascination with the ancient past, and John Soane, whether willingly or otherwise, was directly involved in its development.
Led by our expert guides, this sixty-minute tour will steer you through the dark, winding passages of Sir John Soane’s collection, sharing stories of 19th-century acts of derring-do, of Egyptian gods and myths, and the Western love-affair with ancient Egypt.
Join us in October as we journey back, first to the Egypt of Soane’s England, and then beyond – to the land of the pharaohs and the banks of the Nile.
Tours are limited to 15 participants to ensure a focused and engaging experience. Each tour runs from 6pm to 7pm.
